What are we doing
Occupational therapy evaluation and intervention services are offered to adults and children, faced mainly with movement disorders.
Our goal is to use therapeutic techniques that have a solid research base in terms of their effectiveness.
At the same time, we aim to carry out research on the upgrading of knowledge on issues related to motor learning, neuroplasticity and the combination of interventions that accelerate motor rehabilitation after neurological damage.
The laboratory is fully equipped with electronic systems and assistive technology devices suitable for retrainingpeople with movement disorders in activities of daily living, while at the same time it offers a variety of technological means for upper limb rehabilitation, such as virtual reality games and robotic devices.
The interventions used at the Plasticity Occupational Therapy laboratory are often the result of the collaboration of an interdisciplinary team that in addition to the occupational therapists may include physiotherapists, speech therapists, special educators, biomechanics, computer engineers, etc.
The lab receives referrals directly from clients, as well as from doctors, educators, and otherhealth careprofessionals.
Services include children with Cerebral Palsy, Obstetrical Palsy, Motor Syndromes as well as adults after Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injuries, Multiple Sclerosis and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
